The time to start living for REAL is now. People are growing weary of pretense, and the call for authenticity is on the rise.
A new focus has been placed on being REAL, genuine, and original, pretty much across the board. It could be because I was inspired to zero in on the word REAL that the term has begun to show up everywhere (the Universal Law of Attraction would certainly dictate this!), but it truly does seem to be popping up all over the place lately. Advertising agencies are excessively capitalizing on the word. Hell, even the back of the Triscuits box touts the crackers as “real food made by real people.”
What I call the “REAL” movement is reflected in things like the push to eat more organic foods, use all-natural chemical-free products, and subscribe to holistic and alternative health treatments. I listen to people talk about politics, spirituality, education, and wellness, and – regardless of the viewpoints – what I hear translates to a collective craving for fresh, legitimate, raw, honest approaches to all of it. We are growing weary of overly-processed foods and overly-processed lives. We have less and less of a taste and tolerance for the artificial flavors of life. We don’t want the fake shit that generations before us blindly swallowed. We’re over it.
So what’s with the Tea?
If you live with a teenager, you may have heard the expression, “spilling the tea.” If not, a quick google search will generate a handful of Urban Dictionary definitions for reference. People like to turn this phrase when they have juicy gossip, dramatic stories, or big news to share. I think it is pretty dam catchy and clever!
The meaning I like best is, “telling the truth about something/someone to other people.”
That is exactly what I want to do. I want to tell you the truth, my truth. I want to get REAL with you about ways I have successfully left behind an overly-processed life and started to step into simple, authentic, REAL living. My truth just might help you find your truth, and your truth will lead you to your REAL life.
We are friends who are about to start a REALly interesting conversation about discovering and channeling your power and energy and crafting a life that is easier, happier, calmer, and more enjoyable more of the time. Isn’t that what we are all shooting for at the end of the day? Ease and contentment?
Indeed.
But before we brew . . .
If we are going to drink REAL tea together, you will need to come to the table with a few mission critical items.
An open mind.
At times, you may be asked to abandon your logical, pragmatic mindset and tap into your intuitive nature. Some of the tea I will spill will be so steamy that only someone with the willingness to think counterintuitively and out-of-the-box will be able to stand the heat. Think you can take it? I know you can.
We are going to be chatting it up about some things that have been hidden from you (albeit unintentionally). Getting REAL will involve challenging some of your core beliefs, and that process can be uncomfortable. Your new mantra: Get comfortable being uncomfortable.
Faith (in YOU)
I am not referring to the kind of faith that they talk about in church and religion class. I am talking about faith in yourself. . . Faith in the human spirit, and faith in your own, immense, REAL power.
Believing that you were born with, and have regular access to, a creative source energy may be a big stretch for you. I get it. But how will you know if you don’t test the theory?
Expand for REAL. Explore for REAL. Experiment for REAL.
Worst case scenario: you don’t see results, and your life stays the same.
Best case scenario: your life becomes REALly amazing. What have you got to lose?
Motivation to stop the insanity
Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I think we can all pick up what he is putting down. This is not rocket science, people.
Recycled routines will not produce new and REAL results. Period.
More importantly, the whole idea is to remove the insane chaos and limiting factors from your daily experience. You can’t embrace REAL living if your credo is, “this is my circus, and these are my monkeys.” Please. To quote the sweet old lady in that hilarious Esurance commercial, “That’s not how it works! That’s not how any of this works!”
REAL life is about living large by shifting your focus in small ways towards rather simple things. In other words, it is about changing things up via bite-sized and manageable methods. REAL life is all about ease, simplicity, and contentment. Beginning to live for REAL should not be complex or overwhelming. I am talking gradual tweaking at a peaceful pace. REAL progress at a REAListic rate.
In any case, change is key. You should make room for it, NOW.
I have made both large-scale and small-scale changes along my road to REAL living. There have been a few profound shifts, like simplifying my living situation by trading in a 6,000 sq. ft house for a 1,400 sq. ft apartment (kind of a big deal). Yet, I have also made many more subtle tweaks to my daily routines, like replacing a miniature brush/dustpan set with a full-sized, taller broom so that I could stop straining my back hunched over the floor every morning when I clean up the cat litter. I still don’t understand why it took me 4 months to stumble upon that brilliant solution. We tend to make things so hard for ourselves, don’t we? I can’t even . . . smh.
Now I am certainly not suggesting that a drastic residential change is required to live a REAL life, or that purchasing the right cleaning products will necessarily save your soul, but I am suggesting that if you will sharpen your focus on making whatever shifts are necessary so that you are a happier and more relaxed person living moments and days that are even just a little easier and less taxing, the cumulative effects will be life-altering, I mean REALly off the charts.
I have been experimenting with this stuff for 10+ years, and I have a pretty sweet formula brewing. You don’t have to stress about hammering out a new recipe from scratch – you can build off of mine!! Chillax, friend. I am going to be sharing and spilling all kinds of tea, and we will find your flavors.
Your job: Get REAL inspired. Decide to claim your REAL power. Make it your intention to create a REAL life.
You can do this. I have your back, and so does the Universe.
Shit’s about to get REAL.
REAL is where it’s at.
And that’s the REAL tea.
