REAL Energy and Intention

April 22, 2019 By KT Wilson

Rise Up: Inspire the Human Spirit & Honor the Sacred in Your Life

We share a mystical, yet measurable, energy. It surrounds, moves through, and fuels each of us. It infuses life into all that is. It invigorates the Universe.

One of the greatest scientists of all time, Albert Einstein, studied and supported this truth. He himself believed and stated that the existence of this shared energy is a matter of hardcore physics, not pie-in-the-sky philosophy.

REAL Spirit Has Many Names

There are many names for this mysterious but REAL force that floats within and around us.

Chi. Prana. Shakti. Holy Spirit. Earth Energy. Divine Essence. REAL Love.

It is invisible, in that we cannot tangibly hold it in our hands and feel its texture. Yet we see evidence of its presence and flow. Though we may not always speak of it, we intuitively sense its REALness. Our human language lacks the terminology to adequately describe it, but our hearts can easily translate its communication with clarity (that is, if they are open).

You don’t need religion or spirituality to recognize, appreciate, and channel the gentle force that glides through our lives and our world. If you are human and you are here, you have the capability and opportunity to see it, feel it, and harness it.

We Can All Lay Claim to the Human Spirit

Perhaps since we are all human and are all here and together in this moment in time, we can – for the sake of finding a common ground to work from –  agree to focus on the part of this shared universal energy that we are responsible for. We’ll call our part the Human Spirit.

It doesn’t matter if you are an atheist, a Seventh Day Adventist, a Buddhist, or a Muslim…unless you live under a rock, you have witnessed the mysterious and often inexplicable qualities of the Human Spirit.

It’s what makes our heart hurt when we see another person crying in pain. It’s what inspires us to run into burning buildings to save people whom we have never met. It’s what motivates us to donate our talent, time, and treasure toward causes that may never directly impact us. It’s what pushes us to press on in the face of adversity and circumstances that can seem hopeless.

REAL Connection Cannot be Denied

The Human Spirit connects us to the larger entity of energy that breathes life into the Earth and into the world. Regardless of how much or how little we openly acknowledge and discuss it, we each possess a deep inner knowing that it lives within us and links us to one another, to nature, and even to the beings and matter that exist in galaxies still to be found.

We recognize and remember this connection each time we embrace another person, each time we witness the sun rise and set, each time we throw our heads back in unbridled laughter, each time we sit beside an ocean in awe, each time we feel the touch of a friendly hand, each time we gaze up at the celestial ceiling that shelters our days and nights.

The connection is REAL. It is palpable.

Human Spirit operates like all other forms of energy in the universe. The richer and stronger the spirit of each individual contributor, the sturdier and more robust the collective energy of the whole.

How would you rate yourself as an individual contributor? How do you cultivate, show respect to, and preserve the integrity of the Human Spirit? Are you doing your part to ensure that the energy we are all infused by is pure, balanced, and vibrant? What type of energy are you throwing into the mix?

Wake Up and Sanctify Your Life

You can complement and enhance the communal energy flow of the Universe in a number of ways, and they are all rooted in the awakening and expansion of your unique Human Spirit.

Once you wake up for REAL, become keenly aware of your REAL Self, and get in REAL touch with those life aspects that fill you up and bring you REAL peace and joy, you can intentionally refine your daily routines to maximize the invigorating energy that those aspects emit into the world.

Practicing REAL reflection can help in this process of Self-exploration and awakening.

You can begin by asking your Self these questions.

What is sacred to you?

What gives your life meaning, purpose, and direction?

How do you honor the things you call sacred?

Where is your church? Where do you go to show gratitude to your sacred elements? Where do you feel most aligned with them? Is it a specific place? Your house? A beach? A forest? A table surrounded by family and friends? A garden?

What are your personal sacraments? What are your unique rituals? How do you show reverence for your moments and days?

How do you bless your Self? How do you bless others? How do you bless your life experience as the precious treasure that it is?

How do you honor your highest and best intentions? Do you know what those are?

How can you refresh and refine your daily experience so that the world can expand in refreshed and refined ways?

A Recipe for Renewal

These are not questions meant to be reserved for Sunday school, synagogues, spiritual retreats, or philosophical conferences. These are important inquiries to make of your Self  on a regular basis, because the answers will guide your life course. The answers will also impact the quality of the collective Human Spirit and the course of the universal energy we share.

It is time to step up and make the effort to find these answers. Individually. Collectively. Physically. Mentally. Emotionally. Time is of the essence for each of us to discover and honor our true essence, and to cultivate and expand our Human Spirits. The world needs each of us well and energized.

So seek out what uplifts you, what fills you up, what makes your life worth living. Align your routines, actions, and thoughts with the aspects of this journey that you see as sacred and meaningful. Take action! Thinking and wishing won’t be enough – even magic requires the active flick of a wand.

Will You Rise Up Today?

We are coming up on the Christian celebration of Easter. There are plenty of people who don’t believe that Jesus Christ ever existed, let alone that he rose from the dead.

The REAL Tea is that whether or not you believe the story is irrelevant.

Great wisdom can be gained from both fact and fiction. Even epic tales that come from nothing but the imagination can educate and awaken us.

The REAL question is whether or not you are open enough to take something away from the story.

The REAL question is, Will you rise up?

Will you sacrifice that “perfect” version of you that conventional society has so diligently helped you craft over the years?

Will you sacrifice the numbing but comfortable familiar to make space for the vibrant but initially uncomfortable newness?

Will you let the limiting parts of your ego die knowing that REAL and limitless peace and joy will be raised within you as a result?

Do you have the courage to be vulnerable and allow the REAL you to emerge and step out into the light?

How far are you willing to go in order to feel at home in your own skin again and to feed your Human Spirit for REAL?

How will you come back to life so that the world can breathe again for REAL?

Clearing Trash to Make Room for Treasure: Creating Space for REAL Intentions to Thrive

Shopping in a Mexican Walmart is quite an experience. Aye yai yai. I will sum it up in one word: SLOW.

Or should I say, SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

When we arrived in Playa del Carmen for an early December get-away with friends, our mission was clear: check in, drop bags, speed-walk to the Walmart for food and libations, and get back to the condo as quickly as possible so that we could start working on our tans and get the blender going. This is our standard first-day-of-vacay protocol, so we were mentally prepared….at least, we thought we were.

Let me just tell you that I have been to a lot of markets in a lot of places, and I have never seen a mass of food-shoppers move so slow in my entire life. People perused as if they were viewing an exhibit in a museum, floor workers stocked shelves and walked the aisles in almost backwards motion, and cashiers seemed to be holding a secret competition to see who could scan items and count change the slowest.

We conquered and divided in order to speed up the process, and I was placed on snack detail. To the overhead sounds of foreign Christmas carols, I frantically raced up and down aisles and searched for the items on the list. I huffed and sighed as I impatiently whirled my cart around all of the aimless wanderers and searched for the chips and salsa.

Where in the hell was the Pace Picante??!!! Guess what? Mexican people don’t buy pre-made salsa, amigos. They make their own. Duh! It took me about 15 minutes to solve that frustrating mystery. My irritation was quickly diminished when I discovered that a case of Corona was $9.00 (NICE!!!).

Finally, we re-convened, combined our goods, and chose a check-out line (which really didn’t matter, because they were all a mile long). As we stood waiting, my husband, Marty, and I scanned the scene, met one another’s gaze, and quietly laughed. He leaned in and with a hint of his vintage sarcasm, he mumbled, “clearly, none of these people know how thirsty we are.”

They didn’t know, nor did they care. They were probably thinking that we were just another bunch of panicky American tourists rushing around so that we could hurry up and relax.

Hurry up and relax…yup, admittedly, that’s about right. As Marty would also say, “I resemble that comment.” I resemble it too.

What’s the hurry?

We. All. Move. Too. Fast. We don’t even REALize how quickly we are zooming through our moments and days until we find ourselves smack in the middle of a Mexican Walmart, stuck in line, and forced to stand uncomfortably still and REALly think about.

We move quickly, and we expect things to happen quickly. We tend to have zero patience for anything or anyone that falls short of immediate responsiveness. When we make the decision to do something, we swiftly spring into action, and we anticipate prompt (if not instantaneous) results.

ASAP is our unfortunate mantra here in the United States. Depending on which part of the country one resides in, this exists in varying degrees. At the end of the day, however, most Americans move, think, and talk at an extremely hurried pace. While acting fast can absolutely be a positive approach in some situations, the unconscious and deep-seeded effects of a habitual rush-mode lifestyle tend to sabotage our best intentions.

Our learned and routine sense of urgency and immediacy undermines our relationships, our physical health, and our general wellbeing. It disrupts the path to our goals and our overall progress, making it challenging to create REAL and lasting change in our worlds. It’s just not a productive way. Not good at all.

We have to rein it in if we want to win the race.

We are energized in a unique way during the months of December and January. The turn of the 12-month cycle is symbolic and inspiring, and most people experience it as an ideal time for new beginnings.

True to our hasty and impulsive nature, we typically waste no time taking advantage of the super-charged motivation that we have when we are standing on the edge of a new year. We begin to mentally draft our resolutions and goals long before the presents are wrapped, and we start jotting them down and talking about them before the holiday ham is even in the oven.

When that first week of January hits, we come out of the gate like thoroughbreds in a Triple Crown horse race, ready to plow through our intention list and transform our worlds.

Statistics indicate that about 10% of us will finish the race. Yikes.

It takes more than speed and lists, friends.

The REAL work starts long before the horses get to the starting gate.

Why do so many of us struggle with maintaining the resolve around our resolutions? Simple: We pull the trigger on them way too fast!

We are hyper-focused on rapidly diving into our newly-envisioned lives and goals ASAP, and it doesn’t occur to us that pressing pause and taking a bit of upfront housekeeping and stage-setting time might be useful. Our impatient brains shout, “I ain’t got no time for that!” and our conditioned minds urge us to launch into immediate action. Per the usual, we rush things. We jump the gun. I don’t have to tell you what typically happens as a result of that…the data speaks for itself.

We have to take out the trash before we can bring home the treasure.

What most people miss is that before we can successfully bring new and renewed elements into our experience, we must first make room for them. We need to pre-plan and proactively carve out space for our new intentions to cultivate and operate within. We need to sweep our chimneys before we strike the matches and ignite the fire of REAL change.

Think about it this way:
Life is an experiment. Life is a dance. Life is an adventure. Scientists ensure that their labs are free of germs and toxic variables before they test new methods and procedures. Performers ensure that their stages are clear of obstruction before they start to twirl around and move to new steps and beats. Explorers analyze their maps to plan for potential obstacles and hindrances before they set off on excursions to new territories.

We have to clear a path and remove the debris and excess out of our way before we can pull new things in and add them to our existing landscape. There must be a purging of sorts. All solid renovation and construction efforts start with a cleansing and a clearing out of the space to be altered.

There is a lot to be said for a little time and space.

There is only space for so much in our lives, and this is true regardless of whether it’s mental, physical, or emotional collateral we are storing. When we overcrowd that space by trying to heap new stuff onto old stuff, it usually doesn’t go well. The pile will, at some point, become imbalanced and topple over.

So… we have this finite amount of space to work with, space to hold our mind, body, and spirit inventory. We now intend to refine and refurbish that space by trying some new activities, changing our thought patterns up a bit, tweaking a handful of our behaviors, and making some shifts in our routines.

Great!

Before we spring into action, though, we need to slow down and ask ourselves the following:

What will we remove from our daily dockets in order to make room for those new activities?

What perceptions and internal narratives will we work to wipe from our minds in order to make space for the newer healthier thoughts?

What behaviors will we be looking to rid from our repertoires so that we can make room for the new inventory?

What will we scratch from our schedules so that we have time to account for those shifts to our daily regimen?

The cornerstone component of REAL living is simplification. The aim is to refine and innovate our daily experiences so that we are less taxed and more at ease. It is tempting to shortcut the intention-setting process by just adding the new to the existing and hoping for the best, but that approach will only leave us feeling more burdened.

The alternative? We can slow down and take some time to survey and analyze our space. We can identify what needs to be discarded, cleansed, and/or moved around in order to make way for the exciting enhancements and additions that we will use our REAL power and energy to create.

We will set intentions with clarity and a clean slate.

We will detox before we develop.

Renewing with a REAL Ritual: Clearing the Way for REAL Change

Over the next month, I invite you to join me in an across-the-board REAL living detox.

This will not be a competitive game or a difficult challenge, but rather a soothing and healing ritual.

Together, we will literally clean and clear out the spaces in which we live and breathe. In doing so, we will make for a more organized and polished start to the year, and more importantly we will set the stage for the mental and emotional cleansing that will inherently become part of the process as we move closer to operationalizing our 2019 intentions and goals.

Over the next four weeks, we will clear the channels and scrub up all types of spaces and places: where we eat, where we sleep, where we lounge, where we work, where we travel, and where we digitally live.

Our Mission: De-clutter, cleanse, clear, tidy, and detox all spaces in our lives.

Our Target Areas:

• Our refrigerators
• Our closets, cupboards, and drawers
• Our living spaces
• Our cars
• Our lockers and desks
• Our calendars, routines, and to do lists
• Our social media pages and walls
• Our inboxes and TV viewing lists

Our Timeline:

We will take this at the gradual and manageable pace that REAL living calls for, and we will allow ourselves about one month to cleanse and clear. Each week, for four consecutive weeks, I will pass along applicable info and tips and share my personal progress and insights with you.

We will complete our detox and clearing ritual during the week of Valentine’s Day, a fitting time to honor and applaud the fact that we love ourselves enough to take the time for this invaluable and healing exercise. The best part: we will culminate and celebrate our efforts together with my very first REAL Tea YouTube video!

Clean your gear and grab your bag, we are headed someplace new!

Creating, renewing, and manifesting change are inside jobs. Internal work is key. At the same time, though, we need to recognize and acknowledge that our outside worlds, the environments we move around in and the spaces we occupy, are a direct reflection of our inner landscape. There is a very REAL connection between these two sides of our experience, and we have the REAL power to use that relationship to our advantage when it comes to promoting change and newness within our moments and days.

Through the act of consciously detoxifying and cleansing our outer spaces, we are giving advance notice to the universe that we intend for our inner worlds to mirror the crystal clear and clutter-free backdrop we are carefully preparing. When the work of cleansing is complete, we will be standing together with wide open spaces and hearts, ready to inspire REAL change and build our REAL lives upon the foundation of our REAL intentions.

I leave you with an excerpt from my newest book purchase, Journey to the Heart by Melody Beattie. It is no coincidence that these words crossed my path this week. Cheers to the transformation and joy that await us in the new places we will discover together as we explore the wonders of REAL living.

January 9, You’re Going Someplace New ~Melody Beattie

You are opening up more and more. You are becoming clearer each day. Embrace the changes taking place. They are good. They will last. They will take you and your life to someplace new, someplace you can’t fully imagine now because it is so different than where you have been.

All will be changed. Your love, your life, your friends, your work. Your quiet moments and your times of sharing. Your play time, your rest time. Your attitude will change. Your ability to fully enjoy and joyfully experience your life will change.

Things that used to bother you, hold you down, hold you back will roll off easily. Problems that used to plague and pester you, making you feel weighted down, will be lifted easily. You will know and trust that the answers you need will come to you.

Your powers will increase. You will find yourself doing, knowing, and feeling things that you thought only certain others could do. You will find yourself gliding through life in a way that brings you joy, and touches and heals others.

You will laugh a lot. And yes, you will cry a lot too, because an open heart feels all it needs to feel. But you will not think twice about your emotions. You will feel them with the purity of a child and the wisdom of a sage.

You will see, touch, taste, and feel life’s magic in a way you never imagined. You will love, and you will be loved. And you will learn that it is all the same.

You are open now, more open than you’ve ever been. Trust the process and trust your heart. The journey is not in vain. Its purpose is to lead you to love.

And that, my friends, is the REAL tea.

Fuel Your REAL Rebellion with REAL Energy and Intention

“You can’t just visualize and then, you know, go eat a sandwich.”

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Jim Carrey made this statement to comically describe the hard truth that comes with the discovery of your intense creative power. It isn’t enough to recognize and decide you want to harness your Divine power to imagine and manifest the REAL life you want. You must deliberately put it into motion, for REAL. Even magic requires a little action.

Bibbbidi Bobbidi Boo!

In true form, the Universe waved its wand this week and serendipitously revealed what it believes your first calls to action should be. It magically served up a new moon, and there is a message in the timing. People tend to be more intrigued by the full moon, but the REAL tea is that the new moon, and the handful of days surrounding it, holds bigtime energy. It is literally a lunar sweet spot when it comes to setting intentions around new beginnings (and soliciting the Universe’s support to manifest those).

A REAL Call for Constructive Rebellion

This new moon is not only in the 11th month, but it hit on the 7th day of the 11th month. When 1’s and 7’s show up together, it is often an indication that a new start is on the horizon, and that it will likely be one that leads to an awakening and a break from tradition.

Author Alana Fairchild says that “1’s and 7’s together bring a message of constructive rebellion.. . . the message is that breaking with what you have been told or taught is a good move for now.”  It is the Universe’s numeric warning that it is time to prepare for a REAL battle that will require you to rebel against formerly held beliefs and abandon conventional philosophies. This number combo also suggests that you must make the time to deeply assess what changes are necessary to make so you can find and follow your truth.

Lead a Powerful Rebellion with a REAL Plan of Attack

REAL Reflection

Silence and solitude are invaluable weapons. Arm yourself with the gift of calming alone time. You will require regular doses of this in order to weave your creative magic, but more importantly, the exponential benefits of doing this will astound you. Make it your mission to carve out time and space that allows for you to be still and undistracted, even if it is just 10-15 minutes each day.

It is challenging for your soul to speak and be heard over the noise of your mind and the outside world, so experimenting with ways that allow you to do this is a worthwhile endeavor. There is no right or wrong approach to learning how to slow down, quiet the mind, and simply be. It takes practice to turn the volume down and set a good stage for effective reflection.

Free up and prime your soul and mind, these activities can help you:

  • Meditation
  • Yoga
  • Nature walks/runs
  • Quiet solitary time listening to meditative/calming music
REAL Tips: you don’t need to be in a studio, seated in a specific position or on a special type of cushion, or practicing any of this in a particular room or space. This is for YOU, so get creative and find what works best in your world.
My REAL Methods: I use shower time and trail runs to meditate, reflect to soothing music when driving alone, and set aside 15 -20 minutes of quiet solitary time each day (usually somewhere in my apartment and typically on the family room floor with my feline meditation partner at my feet.)

REAL Energy Analysis

A REAL rebel must come to battle with a fierce and victorious energy. Energy lives within and around EVERYTHING. People, places, animals, things, foods, music, thoughts. EVERYTHING. Do you pick up on different types of vibes when you travel to a certain place, or interact with a particular person, or eat a type of meal, or listen to a specific type of music? That vibe you sense is REAL and exudes from the energy that infuses everything that is.

You, too, have your own unique vibe. You are connected to everything and everyone by a common energy and were born with an innate ability to sense the varying frequencies that come from different sources of that energy. It is one of your many REAL superpowers.

Some vibes and energies are upbeat, while others can be REAL downers. The REAL tea is that removing what brings you negative energy and falls into that “downer” category, and maximizing what brings you positive energy and constitutes that upbeat/feel-good category, play a big part in REAL living.

A careful energy analysis of which vibes feel right and which vibes feel wrong is a mission critical task in the quest to create your REAL life. It makes it easier to “clean house” when you are crystal clear on what to trash and what to keep.

Whose houses are we cleaning? Yours. Society may or may not consider you a real estate mogul, but in the REAL world, you own multiple homes that require regular maintenance:

  • Your inner home (your internal thought patterns, behaviors, self-talk, routines)
  • Your physical home (the physical space(s) in which you dwell and spend the majority of your time)
  • Your community/neighborhood home (the people you spend your time with, the places you frequent, the activities and events you participate in)

Use reflection time to honestly assess the state of each of your homes:

  • Which elements within each home emit energies that make you feel good, fill you up, make you come alive, and increase your joy and peace? Add to and enhance your energy? Speed up, strengthen, and heighten your vibe and frequency?
  • Which elements within each home give off energies that make you feel bad, drain you, make you anxious and restless, and decrease your sense of ease and contentment? Reduce and dampen your energy? Slow down, weaken, and lower your vibe and frequency?
  • Meditate on this during your quiet time and record your thoughts and analysis notes in a journal or notebook (one that gives you good vibes, please!). These notes will ultimately inform the master blueprint of your REAL life plan.

REAL Tips: Carry a journal or notebook around so that you can make notes about vibes and energies when you are on the go. Record and track your daily feelings and experiences to enhance your level of self-awareness and help fine-tune your frequency detector (as well as inform that master blueprint that I will help you draft!!)
My REAL Methods:  I decorate my living space with things that tell a good story and have positive meaning for me (I finally gifted all of the mundane space fillers to Good Will). I always have vibe-raising music playing in the background of whatever space I am in (some days that means Jack Johnson, some days Sinatra, and other days Eminem). I only shop in and purchase services from businesses and stores that have a positive energy and vibe. I will travel further and spend more money if it means I will be amidst people and places that have happy energies and attitudes.

REAL Intention

Without fail, REAL rebels intend to win every fight.

Energy analysis results are the perfect springboard for creating your authentic intentions. Once you get a REAL handle on what makes you feel good and gives you awesome vibes, and what makes you feel bad and gives you sucky vibes, you can create targeted intentions around what to release and what to manifest.

With your REAL reflection and energy analysis findings in mind:

  • Set 1-3 clear intentions that involve clearing your life of what falls into the negative, energy-sucking bucket (what do you intend to throw out?)
  • Set 1-3 clear intentions that center around cultivating and filling your newly-cleaned and cleared space with things that fall into the positive, vibe-raising bucket (what do you intend to keep and grow more of?)
  • Write all of your intentions down in a journal or notebook

REAL Tips: Write your intentions on paper or cards that you can post all around so that they remain front and center in your awareness. Meditate on your intentions and visualize them coming into your REALity. Transform your intentions into statements (“I intend to bring XX into my life”) and confidently speak those statements out loud at least once a day. Revisit your intention list periodically.
My REAL Methods: I use the new moon week of each month to reassess my REAL intention list and either revise or add to it. I infuse meaning into my intention practice by trying fun intention-setting rituals. I read over and state my intentions each morning (within the first 30 minutes of waking up).

The REAL tea is that “you can’t just visualize and then, you know, go eat a sandwich.”

Harnessing your REAL power in REAL ways in order to create a REAL life requires REAL effort and REAL intention.

It will require you to launch your own REAL rebellion.

Shall we gear up with our REAL weapons and take to the battleground together?

Charrrrrrrrrrge!
